SCHIMA CERTIFICATION EXAM FEE REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM

About SCHIMA

RHIT Certification Exam Reimbursement Program Application

Starting October 1, 2011, SCHIMA will begin accepting for review applications for reimbursement of RHIT exam fees from new professionals graduating on or after July 1, 2011 who have successfully passed the RHIT exam.  (Graduates from 2009 and prior years were eligible for the SCHIMA Certification Exam Scholarship Program this program replaced.  Each reimbursement cycle is open only to that year’s graduates – i.e., Class of 2010 graduates were eligible during the SCHIMA 2010-2011 Board Year cycle.  Class of 2011 will be eligible to apply for the 2011-2012 SCHIMA Board Year Cycle described below.)

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must:

·         Be current STUDENT, GRAD or ACTIVE members of AHIMA and

·         Have SCHIMA as their Component State Association (CSA) and

·         Graduate from a SC-based, CAHIIM-accredited HIM/T Program on or after July 1, 2011 and

·         NOT be eligible for reimbursement for their exam fees from any other source and

·         Submit a legible, authentic, complete application with all required attachments (see application for instructions) via US Mail postmarked between October 1, 2011 and May 1, 2012

Awards up the 100% of the PAID certification exam fee may be issued to individuals who successfully submit complete applications meeting all criteria for reimbursement on a first-come, first-served basis (as evidenced by the application postmark) until all funds for the program are exhausted for the year.  Application for exam fee reimbursement does NOT guarantee award.

Applicants must not be eligible for reimbursement of certification exam fees from any other source.  Employers, public and private agencies, and other third parties are not eligible to receive reimbursement for exam fee payment.

For the Class of 2010, a total of $1,145 in RHIT exam fee reimbursement was awarded to five (5) new RHITs.  Awards each year will vary based on the amount of funding available for distribution, but we anticipate no less than five to be awarded each year.
